“The SPAASI has accompanied the music industry in the development of artists on the international stage for 20 years now. This organization is a fantastic vector of talent, which allows out artists to be seen and recognized within the international Francophonie.”
-Le Grenier musique

1999

A consortium of organizations responsible for arts and culture seeks to promote Acadian creation in Quebec and in the global Francophonie. SPAASI was therefore created and entrusted to the Société Nationale de l'Acadie.

2002

The Société Nationale de l'Acadie successfully undertakes three major initiatives: the preparation of an operational plan for the SPAASI, a mission of the Acadian music industry to the Déferlantes Francophone of Capbreton (France) and the creation of the international component of the FrancoFête en Acadie.

2003

SPAASI carries out four major activities: a follow-up mission to the Déferlantes Francophones, a first market for Acadian and regional cinema during the Festival international du cinema francophone en Acadie (FICFA), the International Industry component of the Francofête en Acadie, and the Nuits acadiennes in Paris.

2018

A 5-year strategic export plan has been set up and brings a series of new features:

New disciplines: Until 2018, the artistic discipline targeted by the mandate was mainly music. The new strategic export plan 2018 - 2023 aims to expand this range to seven artistic disciplines: music, theater, dance, visual arts, media arts, literature and circus. The goal is to advance all disciplines along the export continuum.

Reciprocity: Artists from partner countries are joining for the first time in SPAASI activities of the Francofête en Acadie in order to demonstrate the importance of reciprocity and collaboration between Acadie and its international partners.

Advisory committee: This new committee aims to set up the new SPAASI export plan and validate the activities proposed by the sectoral committees to the Société Nationale de l'Acadie board of directors. It is made up of representatives of provincial arts and culture organizations.

Sectoral committees: These new committees serve to better identify the needs and export strategies specific to each artistic discipline. In all, more than 50 volunteer artists participate in these committees.

2020

The international section of the Francofête en Acadie was for the first time completely virtual.
